Established in 1825, Australian Business Chamber is an independent not-for-profit business organization headquartered in Sydney. With over 100 years of history, it owns 18,000 members, more than 700 employees, and 50 subsidiaries across Australia, making it the oldest, largest, and the most influential chamber of commerce with the most members in the country. This comprehensive, innovative chamber has become increasingly influential in building up the relationship between government sectors and companies. It has achieved remarkable results in such areas as trade, investment, visits, exhibitions, and services, for which it has been amazingly recognized by government organizations and companies in Australia and beyond. To date, Australian Business Chamber has become the second largest business entity of its kind around the world. The emergence of a third party as a bridge between the government and the market is not only a landmark in the history of Australia’s modernization, but also a necessity for economic globalization. Through the efforts of this business chamber, the economic ties between Australia and other countries, China in particular, have begun to grow by leaps and bounds.

Australian Business Chamber is the largest non-profit organization that has pioneered a new route to promoting the trade and investment between Australia and China. With a widespread network of resources and a large sphere of influence, it actively assists hundreds of Chinese companies in establishing contacts with Australian government sectors, business associations, and companies, attracting investment, and developing the market, providing great business opportunities for Chinese investors with its unique vision and professional services. In 2017, China’s total investment in Australia increased to US$33.35 billion, ranking third among all the countries worldwide. This shows that Australia is highly competitive in attracting investments from China.

Australian businesses mainly seek for local suppliers and their product information, closely inspect their products and services, and receive one-to-one services from consultants of Australian Business Chamber to enter into partnership. The suppliers cooperate with the chamber on the following products and services: alcoholic drinks, food and beverages, fresh products, fashion goods, mother and baby products, healthcare products, and household items.

In recent years, Chinese Australian population has increased rapidly. According to the 2016 census data of Australian Bureau of Statistics, the population of this group reached 1.214 million, accounting for 3.9% of the total population, an increase of more than 40% compared with that of 2011. Australia has become the first choice for Chinese emigrants because of its friendly business environment, pleasant living conditions, excellent education programs, well-developed healthcare and welfare systems, and a diversity of inclusive cultures.

Australian Business Chamber is also dedicated to offering successful Chinese businesspersons immigration consulting services. It has entered into long-term partnership with government sectors and trade associations in Australian states. With considerable resources and a strong network of its 50 subsidiaries, the chamber provides Chinese business people with high-quality and efficient immigration consulting services. In addition, the chamber organizes business tours for Chinese delegations, and help them arrange schedules, visit local companies and not-for-profit organizations, invite guests, and deal with other related matters.

Australian Business Chamber set up an exhibition center in Shanghai in 2015. Since its opening, the center has exhibited an increasing number of products and services provided by hundreds of Australian companies, including food and beverages, wines, dairy products, health food, personal care products, industrial goods, fashion products, jewelry, and educational products. The chamber provides Chinese customers with up-to-date information, and its professionals assist the customers in contacting Australian companies, so as to promote rapid development of trade and investment between the two countries. Australian Business Chamber has a year-round exhibition center at Shanghai Mart. The center’s innovative export program Export Growth China aims to introduce high-quality, reliable Australian products to Chinese customers, thus building an effective platform for companies of the two countries to communicate and cooperate with each other.
