Founded in October 1996, SAOIST is one of the first legal entities in the international service and trade industry established under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (now the Ministry of Commerce). The association is structured into the following committees, including cultural trade, consultation of foreign trade, exhibition, testing and certification, safety and disaster prevention, vehicle management, etc.
The purpose of the association is to guide and help service and trade enterprises to enter the international market, engage in international exchanges, and develop cooperation ties with foreign enterprises, in an effort to accelerate the development of Shanghai’s international economy and trade, promote Shanghai’s transformation into a service economy, and serve the trade service industries in the Yangtze River Delta region and the inland area.
At present, the association has more than 500 members, which are engaged in international trade, exhibition, finance, insurance, transportation, advertising, information, consulting, design, accounting, and legal services.
