Hungary attaches importance to the combination of technology and economy, and it is one of the characteristics of Hungary's economic development to enhance support for science and technology innovation enterprises. The science and technology innovation department of the Hungarian government is the National R&D and Innovation Agency under the Prime Minister's Office. Its duties are formulating national science and technology innovation strategies and policies, and coordinating multilateral and bilateral scientific and technological cooperation with the EU, neighboring countries and international organizations.
The Hungarian government has promised to invest 10% of the EU's financial subsidies in technological R&D in the next seven years from 2014, striving to make Hungary a technological innovation center in Central and Eastern Europe.
