South Africa’s full-grown ICT and electronics industry has more than 3,000 companies, ranking first in Africa. In terms of IT products, computer brands mainly include Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Dell, and Mustek. Most of them are locally assembled with imported accessories. Due to the limitless potential of the ICT market, a number of multinational companies, including IBM, Unisys, Microsoft, Intel, Systems Application Protocol (SAP), Dell, Novell, Compaq, Siemens, Alcatel, Ericsson, Altech, Grintek, Spescom, Tellumat, and Marconi, have set up branch offices in South Africa. These companies have also developed other African markets.
