China’s automakers including BAIC Group, China FAW, and BYD Auto have set up or will set up plants in South Africa. In addition, Auto parts manufacturers, including ArbinExhaust, Bloxwitch, Corning, and Senior Flexonics, have established production bases in the country. At present, BAIC Group have set up the Springs factory (Beijing Auto Works). Considering the underdeveloped public transportation system in major cities of South Africa, the factory produces about 150,000 to 250,000 15-seat minibuses for the black. Now, it sells an average of 250 vehicles per month, but it is still unable to meet the demand.
