As a large state-owned enterprise under the administration of the Shanghai Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd. The Lingang International Innovation Center (LIIC) serves the Belt and Road initiative and supports the establishment of Shanghai’s technology and innovation platform. It is striving to become an international platform integrating the five core services (business attraction, cooperation development, marketing and promotion, comprehensive service, and talent service) in order to help enterprises in industrial parks to go global.

In June 2016, the Lingang Group acquired a property on 755 Sansome Street in downtown San Francisco, marking the beginning of the company going global. With an excellent location, the property covers an area of around 5,866 square meters and houses a whole floor of co-working offices. It serves as a platform for introducing the Lingang Group, the Lingang Industrial Area, and even Shanghai to the outside world, as a bridge for matching industrial resources, and a carrier for the five service platforms. In addition, a whole floor was used to build the first intelligent manufacturing innovation incubator in San Francisco, to fully match the innovation resources in intelligent manufacturing in San Francisco and even in the whole U.S.

In May 2017, LIIC officially inaugurated the Helsinki Center, Finland as its second center. Located in Nokia’s former factory site, it is a proud outcome of collaboration between LIIC, We + Co-working, and the founder of “Angry Birds” and “Slush.” It opens a window for cooperation among innovative enterprises in China and Finland, through which cutting-edge technologies and information from Finland and Europe can be introduced to Lingang, Shanghai, and China, and Chinese enterprises can enter the European market.

In September 2017, the Stockholm Center, Sweden was inaugurated as its third center. Located in Kista Science City, also called Europe’s “Silicon Valley,” this center is run with the cooperation of three partners: LIIC, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and the Swedish Institute of IOT. It builds direct links between Shanghai and the world’s leading IOT, ICT, wireless communication, and micro-electronic industries.

As a bridge facilitating communication between China and the outside world, LIIC is striving to expand overseas markets, and actively seeking policy support from Lingang and Shanghai Municipality to facilitate the inflow of overseas industrial resources and talents into Shanghai.

In the future, LIIC will open centers in global technology and innovation frontiers such as Australia, Canada, Germany, and Japan in a more open and steadier manner. By doing so, it will have access to competitive industrial resources, build an innovation network, and achieve the interactivity and synergy between the world’s leading innovation entities and those in Lingang, Shanghai, and China.
