Huarun Dadong, founded in January 1994, started to operate in November 1995. Invested by China Resources Machinery & Minmetals (Holdings) Co., Ltd in Hong Kong, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Yatong Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Datong NGS Industry Co., Ltd, the company is a joint venture with its principal business of repairing and refitting various large ships at home and abroad.
After over 20 years’ development, Huarun Dadong's comprehensive strengths of ship maintenance has been among the top ones in China for many years. At present, it has undertaken over 4,000 large ship maintenance and refitting projects of more than 40 countries and regions, including Europe, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This has made the company well-known in the international ship repairing market.
The company’s ship maintenance base is located in Chongming Island, which is near the estuary of Shanghai. It is on the other side of Shanghai port and Waigaoqiao Container Terminal, facing the Yangtze River estuary. With excellent geographic water conditions, its main channel coastline is 2300 meters long and the length of its berth is 2290 meters. Huarun Dadong boasts sound ship maintenance equipment, 8 deep water wharfs with depth ranging from 8 to 14 meters. It has one floating dock of 300,000 tons, one floating dock of 200,000 tons, one floating dock of 80,000 tons, and one floating dock of 50,000 tons. The company also has a super large dry dock with a length of 380 meters, a width of 103 meters, and a depth of 14 meters. The company’s manufacturing pattern of "five docks and eight berths" brings it the capacity to repair about 300 ships of over 10,000 tons annually.
In accordance with the requirements of International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea and International Ship and Port Facility Security, Huarun Dadong obtained the Statement of Compliance of a Port Facility of the People's Republic of China in June 2004.
The company took the lead in establishing the comprehensive management system of "quality, vocational health and safety, and environment" in July 2006. Now the system has been upgraded to ISO9001:2015, OHSAS18001:2007 and ISO14001:2015 according to international standards.
