CCCC Third Harbor Consultants Co., Ltd. (THEC) is one of China’s largest transportation and port engineering exploration and design units, which aims to build a "domestic first-class and world famous" international engineering consulting company.
THEC, founded in 1958, was restructured to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Communications Construction (a listed company) in 2006. A modern enterprise system was also built within this company.
THEC is a Shanghai High- and New-Tech Enterprise, Shanghai “Trustworthy” Unit (with AAA qualification authentication) and AAA Credit Enterprise. It boasts national Grade A qualification certificates of engineering design, comprehensive engineering exploration and engineering consultation, as well as engineering cost consultation. It has been rated as "China’s Top 100 Unit of Comprehensive Strength in Exploration and Design" for many years by the Ministry of Construction. In 2005, the company was granted the right to operate foreign contract projects by the Ministry of Commerce. In 2006, it was awarded the honorary title of "Excellent Exploration and Design Institute" by the China Engineering & Consulting Association. It has been selected as "China’s Top 60 Engineering Design Enterprise" jointly by ENR and Construction Times of the US for seven consecutive years.
The company implemented total quality management at an early time, and its management system has passed the "quality, environment, and vocational health and safety" system certification of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance -LRQA of the UK. And the system is operating in a continuous and effective way currently.
With strong professional technological strengths and full sets of advanced modernized engineering exploration equipment, THEC can independently undertake large comprehensive engineering projects, such as domestic and overseas ports, channels, ocean engineering, logistics engineering, river hubs, shipyards, roads, bridges, airport runways; it can also conducts planning, consulting, exploration, design, engineering supervision, engineering cost and engineering general contracting of projects such as water supply, electricity transmission, environmental engineering, industrial and civil buildings, automatic control of industrial computers, etc.
THEC has undertaken planning, exploration and design of large comprehensive ports and logistics parks that start from Liaoning province in the north and extend to Hainan province in the south, with Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Fujian as its business focus. Meanwhile, it has completed exploration and design of over one hundred specialized docks for large and medium-sized enterprises, such as power plants, steel plants, shipyards and petrochemical plants, etc. In addition, the company has completed exploration and design tasks of large overseas transportation projects, such as Macao International Airport and Burma International Container Terminal. It has accomplished exploration, design, and general contracting of more than 4,000 large and medium-sized projects.
In the process of global economic integration, THEC actively carries out the "going global" strategy and has undertaken several international engineering projects successively. It has conducted technical cooperation and exchanges with companies from over 10 countries and regions, including Japan, the US, the UK, Germany, Hong Kong and Macao. THEC, entrusted by relevant departments of China, cooperated with foreign companies to conduct technical evaluation and inspection of more than 10 large and medium-sized engineering projects, which were invested or financed by the World Bank and foreign bank consortium. THEC is also capable of undertaking international engineering projects.
