Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. (Zhenhua Heavy Industry) is a state-owned A-share and B-share listed company in the heavy equipment manufacturing industry controlled by China Communications Construction Co., Ltd., one of the world’s top 500 companies.
Headquartered in Shanghai, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has 10 production bases and 24 overseas branches. Its business covers eight fields including port machinery, offshore engineering equipment, large and heavy steel structure, system integration and general contracting, marine transportation and installation, electrical products, investment and financing, and others. Its products are exported to 100 countries and regions around the world, covering about 300 terminals worldwide. The market share of its port machine products has remained first in the industry for 20 consecutive years.
It was not easy to expand into the overseas market at the beginning. Since its early days, the company has been dedicated to making “the container cranes produced by Shanghai Zhenhua seen in every port in the world where there is container loading and unloading”. In 1991, the predecessor to Zhenhua Heavy Industry, which in that time was a unit of Shanghai Port Machine, won over many bidders due to its price advantage and serious and rigorous attitude. Despite minor incidents involving accidents with two cranes in the Port of Qingdao, it still managed to sign an agreement in the name of Shanghai Port Machine with the Port of Vancouver to build its first quay crane. The agreement between the predecessor to Zhenhua Heavy Industry and the Port of Vancouver became a major turning point in the company’s development. The following year, the company of Zhenhua Heavy Industry was officially established. At the end of the year, the company signed the contract with Vancouver in the name of Zhenhua Heavy Industry for the first time.
Since its establishment, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has attached great importance to corporate brand innovation and has made the Chinese brand famous all over the world in its journey of building a world-class company with international competitiveness. After 27 years of development, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has sold its port machine products to about 300 ports in 100 countries, making it one of the best-known Chinese brands in the global market.
In September 2018, Zhenhua Heavy Industry cooperated with the Qingdao Port Group and CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., LTD and signed contracts for relevant projects. At the same time, the 600-ton pile-type crane designed and built by Zhenhua Heavy Industry for Zhongtian Technology Group was successfully assembled at China Merchants Shipyard. In October 2018, the company's largest self-elevating wind power construction platform, the 2,000-ton “Longyuan Zhenhua No. 3”, was put into operation for the first time at the Jiangsu Longyuan Dafeng Phase II wind farm.
In the future, Zhenhua Heavy Industry will continue to adhere to the “One Body and Two Wings” business model – “Equipment Manufacturing + Capital Operation + Internet”, and strive to build itself into the “flag + flagship” of national industry.
