Tujia, which means “your home on the road”, is a house-sharing platform that is committed to giving customers a rich, high-quality and personalized travel and accommodation experience, and giving hosts a secure channel for home rental with high returns.
Tujia now has over 1 million online housing resources in 345 domestic destinations and 1,037 overseas destinations, and provides various accommodation products and extended services that can cater to the needs of “multiple people, for multiple days, with wide and personalized coverage”.
In 2016, Tujia’s orders for a single day exceeded 56,000 nights of accommodation, reaching the highest number of orders for a single day recorded in China’s home-sharing companies. In 2017, Tujia continued to show outstanding results, with the transaction volume increasing by 5 times and the housing supply increasing by 3 times. Tujia has served more than 130,000 hosts and has nearly 100 million users, and has become the largest home lodging platform in China.
Tujia is a user-friendly platform for both hosts and guests. It not only provides guests with “a home on the road”, it also gives the hosts a new source of revenue from house sharing and contributes to social well-being. In the “beautiful guest house” contest, hosts participated in guest house design and smart device installation, improving the user experience, and also promoting public welfare. By revitalizing idle homes, Tujia has provided a significant source of business for home decoration companies, as well as employment opportunities for some elderly workers. Tujia also provides a professional host security program and business guidance through the “Tujia Rental Manager”, allowing hosts to earn money free of worry. In 2017, Tujia launched the RBA service, with integrated intelligent IoT technology and rental management features, delivering the excellent service of “one-click property listing and easy revenue”. In 2018, Tujia established three systems to improve trust and ensure safety: an intelligent security system, a blacklist and a connection between guest houses and the public security system. The company also built a two-way review system to promote mutual trust between hosts and guests, and is committed to promoting standardization of the quality and service of homestays. It has published the first homestay classification standard in the industry, which aims to benchmark the housing facilities, types and specifications, geographical locations, service capacity and other indicators issued by the National Tourism Administration. As well as helping guests to make decisions, this also provides a reference for the standardized operation of hosts.
In summary, the emerging homestay industry still faces the challenges of quality and supervision, and the need for significant reform of standards. Tujia plans to utilize artificial intelligence and big data to promote a sustainable and prosperous industry.
