CMA CGM Group was founded by Mr. Jacques Saadé in 1978 and is one of the few maritime shipping groups in the world that can provide high-quality and complete logistics and supply chain solutions.
CMA CGM Group is one of the main members of the Ocean Alliance, present in over 160 countries on all five continents through over 600 offices, 29,000 employees and 489 container ships. Since 1999, CMA CGM Group has acquired shipping companies from France, Australia, the United States, Morocco, Singapore and other countries, becoming a world’s leading group in the shipping industry. In February 2017, on the occasion of his 80th birthday, Jacques Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM Group, appointed his eldest son Rodolphe Saadé as the new CEO, ushering the conglomerate into a new era.
CMA CGM Group entered the Chinese market in 1992. Currently, it has three wholly-owned subsidiaries in China, namely CMA CGM (China) Shipping Co., Ltd., CMA CGM Logistics (China) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai CMA CGM Management Co., Ltd.
Established in 1996 and headquartered in Shanghai, CMA CGM (China) Shipping Co., Ltd. acts as the Agent for the Group, providing cargo collection, preparation and issuance of bills of lading, freight collection and payment and signing of service contract. With more than 1,300 employees in 60 branches and offices in China, its service network covers the coastal and inland areas of China. As of 2017, CMA CGM Group has more than 200 routes worldwide, 107 of which are directly connected to 13 major commercial ports in China, and its import and export volume ranks third at Shanghai Port.
Headquartered in Shanghai, CMA CGM Logistics (China) Co., Ltd. is a leading integrated logistics supplier with 200 employees in 11 branches in China. It has a widespread business network and operates a wide range of businesses, providing customers with one-stop value-added services in ports, customs, inspection, warehousing, distribution and supply chain management and so on. An award-winning company, it is among the “Top 10 Competitive Chinese Logistics Enterprises 2014”, “Top 100 Chinese Logistics Enterprises with High Brand Value 2015” and “Top 100 Enterprises with Great Economic Contribution to China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Bonded Zones in Shanghai 2016”.
Shanghai CMA CGM Management Co., Ltd. was registered in Shanghai in 2014 by CMA SHIPS. The company’s main business is to offer technical support to the Group’s ships in Chinese ports, provide Chinese shipyards with support in ordering, financing, on-site supervision and management of shipbuilding, exercise on-site supervision and provide technical support for repairs in Chinese shipyards, and provide personnel training and management for Chinese crew members.
