News Producing and International Communication
Founded in July 2003, CBN is the financial section of the Shanghai Television Station and Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group.
As a modern mainstream financial media, CBN produces more than 2,000 pieces of information, videos, data and analysis reports daily, and provides professional services such as advertising, conference and forums, creativity, content customization, investor education and design. In addition, CBN also distributes texts, financial videos, and data analysis to major media platforms and financial institutions both at home and abroad, through copyright transactions, content authorization and official cooperation, creating a media ecology that integrates different media and platforms around the world.
Based in Shanghai, CBN actively explores other markets, looking to integrate information from all kinds of media and to open up international communications. The CBN TV channel is now available in Hong Kong and Singapore, covering 80,000 subscribers in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta, and 1.1 million subscribers in Singapore. After three years of development in Singapore, CBN launched a Singapore special program “Born in the 90s” of “Brainstorm” in 2016 to promote its financial content for young people. During the program, a 48-hour real time online broadcast took place, attracting more than 300,000 viewers. Soon CBN expects to broadcast in Malaysia with the aim of building an interest in the Chinese economy among overseas companies and increasing its international influence.

China’s financial news media has taken a solid step in "going global". CBN shares financial news globally through its own platforms and via an international mobile internet platform, while also working with international mainstream financial media. In 2016, it launched Yicai Global, its English version, to publish timely first-hand financial information about China and overseas markets through the use of smart technologies. In 2016, Yicai Global established a partnership with Twitter, the globally renowned social media platform, to conduct special reports on the G20 summit. Its posting of the topic “Bring You G20 China Hangzhou Summit Events” resulted in nearly 30,000 views. Its tweet about the World Bank was forwarded and replied by Arunma Oteh, Vice President of the World Bank, making it one of the most influential tweets during the G20 summit.
Within an approximate three-year timeframe, Yicai Global plans to build overseas user bases and global influence through accurate, professional, authoritative, and fair news reporting, vivid and intuitive video contents, and unique data services. Ultimately it aims to establish itself as a reliable and important bridge of communication between China and the rest of the world.
