Qinyi Shanghai Opera Troupe
The Qinyi Shanghai Opera Troupe was founded in early 2006 and registered in the Songjiang District of Shanghai. Its founder is Ms. Guo Maoqin, a National Level-2 Actor and pupil of the Shanghai Opera master and intangible culture heritage expert Yang Feifei.
Since it was established, the Troupe has been committed to maintaining the "Yang School" artistic tradition. Currently, the Troupe's repertoire includes The Island of Blood and Tears, Slave Mother, Thunderstorm, Uproar in a Law Court, A Virtuous Woman, Tao Fuzeng Divorces His Wife, and A Couple in Love. It has also created some modern dramas with the theme of rural development in the new era, such as Happy Event, A Tragic Marriage, Hometown Spring, and Cherished Desire. The new production of The Island of Blood and Tears won the Excellent Drama Award at the National Tanhuang Folk Art Festival in 2008. In 2011, the Qinyi Shanghai Opera Troupe was named as "Outstanding Art Troupe of the Year" by the Songjiang District Administration of Culture, Radio, Film & TV.
Also in 2008, the Qinyi Shanghai Opera Troupe was awarded the honorary title of "Shanghai Integrity Unit" and Ms. Guo was named as a "Progressive Individual Promoting Art in Rural Areas". In 2012, the original Shanghai Opera Hometown Spring won the runner-up prize in a new drama show. In 2015, the original Shanghai Opera Cherished Desire won the Performance Award at the 4th Private Troupe Exhibition. In 2017, the original Shanghai Opera The New Story of Maotian, on the theme of rural development in recent years, was produced and staged by the Qinyi Shanghai Opera Troupe.
