Established in June 2002, the Shanghai Grand Cinema Circuit Co., Ltd. was among the first batch of cinemas operating across provinces and cities to be officially approved by the SART. The company now has 74 cinemas, in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui, Gansu, Guangdong, Fujian, Yunnan, Xinjiang, and other cities and provinces, including the Grand Theatre, renowned as the "Greatest Cinema of the Far East", and the Peace Cinema, which tops the box office list in the Yangtze River Delta region (and its IMAX studio is the first of its kind operating in China).
After strenuous efforts, it has successfully developed an operational approach for the brand with increasing popularity and influence. It now owns 41 "Grand Theatres" established under different forms of franchise.
The company focuses on having a high-standard and modernised operational system and management model with a "unified brand, unified management, unified film distribution, and unified services". It has developed its core competitiveness with standardised cinema management, differentiated marketing, and friendly customer services. It is now developing a diversified cinema development platform. Its main operations include film release and screening, cinema investment and construction, and management services, with sidelines in cinema marketing activities and film spin-off projects.
In recent years, the company has made breakthroughs in terms of box office revenue, rising every year at a double-digit percentage rate. In 2017, its annual box office revenue was over RMB 400 million.
