Perfect melodies to spark a passion for life
First held in 2002, Music China has now become the largest and most influential annual event for music and musical instruments. In 2017, with the venue covering an area of 125,000 square metres, the exhibition attracted 2,124 companies from 30 countries and regions and also showcased high-quality musical instruments from Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, Taiwan and more, providing the industry with an excellent platform for the one-stop purchase of musical instruments produced around the globe.
That year, the exhibition attracted a total of 156,824 visitors from 81 countries and regions, including 105,125 guests from related fields, such as instrument manufacturers, distributors, artists and music teachers. They gathered at the exhibition for business opportunities and cultural exchange. As the exhibition becomes increasingly influential, a growing number of music lovers also attend.
Music China actively promotes a number of activities on the theme of music and cultural exchange. Each year, the exhibition invites hundreds of well-known musicians, educators, and artists from home and abroad to give Master Classes in Chinese and Western music culture. In 2014, the exhibition launched the Music Education Exhibition and the Children's Music Castle for the first time to promote music appreciation among the general public; The China Music International Forum Shanghai has been held for 8 consecutive years to showcase Chinese traditional music. In the last two years, the Art Salon and Jazz Masters series of the exhibition have brought together many top Chinese and overseas artists to promote appreciation of classical music in the form of speeches. The charitable programme "Music Opens Minds" has been held for the last three years for children with autism. All these activities represent the social and community aspect of the exhibition.
